Arambol Carnival
The Arambol Carnival is held annually at Arambol Beach in Goa, India, drawing thousands of visitors. Founded by Zouzou, an American, the carnival is loosely inspired by the Catholic festival that begins three days before Lent. As a former Portuguese colony, Goa has a significant Catholic population. The costumes, created by Arambol residents—many of whom are artists and musicians from around the world—are vibrant and imaginative. The carnival unfolds as a lively beach celebration, featuring art installations, performances, and an atmosphere charged with free-spirited energy.
